At Justice For Eric, we are dedicated to remembering 13 year old Eric Omeasoo, a bright, humourous, athletic boy, who was killed on February 5,2025. His absence is felt deeply everyday by the people who loved and knew him. We strive to ensure that his truth is told and his legacy inspires change.
Eric left his great grandmother’s apt at approx 1045pm to meet a friend to exchange hoodies… Eric was fatally stabbed at 11:44 pm, wearing a different hoodie than he left in. CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF: There was never a robbery that took place, there was no swarming, there was no harassing. The altercation started with an argument, and continued when the man chased after the youth onto the platform.
The man who killed Eric Omeasoo was not charged, the whole altercation was captured on CCTV by Edmonton Transit System. There is no audio to the video that the Crown and EPS used to make their decision, but they allowed Eric’s killer to watch and narrate the video.
Witness video footage has been submitted to the family and directly contradicts with EPS and the killers narrative.
Eric‘s family has not been allowed to see the CCTV footage… instead they received a 25 year ban.
Eric loved sports, he loved his friends and he enjoyed school. He was always happy to share his idea's and dreams with his teachers, and his test marks with his family. Eric’s Jr. High School created a memorial award to honour Eric and acknowledge the impact he had on their community and school, with 2025 being the first recipient:
This award honours the memory of Eric Omeasoo by recognizing a student who has shown dedication, perseverance, and personal growth through their involvement in school sports. It celebrates the ways in which athletics can provide students with connection, purpose, and a sense of belonging beyond the classroom.
Named in Eric's honour, this award reflects the spirit of resilience and the positive influence that sport dedication can have in a student's journey. It acknowledges the determination and heart it takes to keep showing up-for your team, for yourself, and for your school community.
The recipient will receive a certificate and a piece of sports equipment. (ie a basketball, soccer cleats, or something associated with "their" sport.)
