Justice For Eric Omeasoo

IN HONOUR OF ERIC OMEASOO
Riverdale Community League raised their Tipi on
September 15, 2025 in memory of Eric Omeasoo, a lifelong Riverdalian. The Tipi was illuminated blue for 13 days to honour the 13 years the community was gifted with Eric's love and light.
On September 29, the lights transitioned to orange in recognition of Every Child Matters.

Eric loved sports, he loved his friends and he enjoyed school. He was always happy to share his idea's and dreams with his teachers, and his test marks with his family. Eric’s Jr. High School created a memorial award to honour Eric and acknowledge the impact he had on their community and school, with 2025 being the first recipient:
This award honours the memory of Eric Omeasoo by recognizing a student who has shown dedication, perseverance, and personal growth through their involvement in school sports. It celebrates the ways in which athletics can provide students with connection, purpose, and a sense of belonging beyond the classroom.
Named in Eric's honour, this award reflects the spirit of resilience and the positive influence that sport dedication can have in a student's journey. It acknowledges the determination and heart it takes to keep showing up-for your team, for yourself, and for your school community.
The recipient will receive a certificate and a piece of sports equipment. (ie a basketball, soccer cleats, or something associated with "their" sport.)

Thank you to Riverdale Community for honouring Eric.
Riverdale community knew Eric since he was an infant. They were a part of raising him too… as they say, it takes a village.
Thank you to all those that came out and were a part of setting up the Tipi, and to all those that came over the 13 days of Blue and hung their hats in respect to Eric. Miigwech

This event has passed. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME OUT TO LISTEN, LEARN, SUPPORT OUR FAMILY AND SHARE LOVE AND MEMORIES OF ERIC 💙
It was a hard moment as most of our family have not been to the station since Eric was murdered there. We are grateful for those that came and stopped and helped us on our healing journey.
